Tennis WAGs.
I suppose there must be tabloids somewhere out there which care about the tennis WAGs but I don't recall reading of them behaving outrageously or whatever, although I'm sure they can have wardrobes full of Gucci and Prada if they choose to.
Here are some of them.
The tennis-player WAGs of tennis players:
Top left-Mrs Andre Agassi, Steffi Graf, herself a holder of many Grand Slam titles
Bottom-Miroslava Vavrinec, Roger Federer's girlfriend, who used to play on the pro circuit, too
Right-I was surprised to learn that Radek Stepanek's girlfriend is Martina Hingis!
The glamorous ones who could give the soccer WAGs a run for their money:
Top left-Rebecca Cartwright, Australian soap actress, Lleyton Hewitt's wife
Bottom-Camille Nevier, French model, Marcos Baghdatis' girlfriend (pic from here)
Right-Patricia Bartret, model, Juan Carlos Ferrero's girlfriend (picture from here)
And... the loveliest of the lot (I think)... Guillermo Coria's wife, Carla (pic from here):
Even Nadal and Andy Murray have recently turned up with girlfriends in their players' boxes. I can't find nice pictures of their 18-year-old girlfriends. Anyway, 18-year-old girlfriends should stay away from the media spotlight for as long as they can help it. Interestingly, Kimberly Sears, Murray's girlfriend (and daughter of Daniela Hantuchova's coach - you see how everyone is related to everyone??) declined to be made over into a 'pro' WAG a la Coleen McLoughlin (Wayne Rooney's girlfriend). Smart. 18-year-olds should finish their A levels, and whatever it is they do in Spain, first.
On the topic of Nadal (pic from his website) and Murray (pic from Wimbledon website), I think Murray needs some beefing up. He's half Nadal's size. But, to his credit, he did manage to overcome Andy Roddick's high-powered serves, despite his slim frame.
And speaking of tabloids, I saw the section in today's ST entitled 'Inside scoop from ST correspondents'. With great expectations, I read 'Expect Mahathir-Abdullah spat to go on for some time'. Then I read it again. Twice, I asked myself 'Where got inside scoop?'
I read the other articles in the section: 'Yudhoyono's political future linked to state of the economy' (Ya, like, we didn't know that), 'China-India ties growing but many obstacles in the way' (Is this supposed to be ground-breaking news or what??) and 'Thaksin's latest high-stakes gamble', and I'm afraid I did not find any 'inside scoop' there either.
Talk about misleading titles.
