I'm back to occasionally writing about frivolous matters, such as K drama, which is today's topic.
I watched bits of Memories of Bali when it was shown over Channel 8 or U (can't remember) some time ago and I happened to finally watch the whole of the last episode on Channel 55 the other day. This show is very flummoxing, I tell you. (I still love that word!)
Guys A (In-wook) & B (Jae-min) fall for the same girl. From the parts I watched, neither actually articulates satisfactorily what they see in her, especially Guy B, who is obsessed with her. So she goes out with both guys, at different times in the show.
The relationship with Guy A is given more airtime - they go out on dates, he takes care of her when she's ill and generally, he's really sweet to her. On the other hand, she and Guy B hardly have many decent conversations. [Fast forward to the end.] After deciding to leave for Bali with Guy A, the girl inexplicably realises she actually loves Guy B, which she declares with her dying breath. (Guy B shoots Guy A and girl, and later himself -- how's that for an improbable ending??)
What was the script writer thinking of?
Anyhow, Sam Soon will start on Channel U tonight. I think I will try to watch it whenever I can, just for the English subtitles. Oh, and also for Kim Sun Ah, who is a good actress, and Hyun Bin, who is a good-looking actor. Well, if you are going to watch it, pay attention to the 'little' things that come up in the first few episodes, e.g. Sam Soon's ATM pin number, Jin-Heon's reaction when she dashes onto the road, their early conversations, etc. One thing I like about this show is how the 'little' things re-emerge later on and become significant.

Comments
pretty long since i last visited your blog - really enjoyed your entries on the lovely sam soon show. in fact, i bought the dvd set just about a month ago, as I became interested in it after reading your comments. but guess what, i still haven't got past episode 1 !! sigh.....kids having CA2 next week....
X-Tongfang (heehee - can you break the code and guess who?)
I hope you do get to watch the rest of it SOON. Only 16 episodes, but I'm sure 16 will still require you to squeeze out quite a bit of 'free' time, what with the kids, housework, etc... maybe during the school hols? Oh, but school hols means they will be at home the WHOLE TIME!
Hope the kids will be ok for CA2. My son doesn't have any CA this term. Lucky kids in his school!
