No chance again

Now with the die cast and all, it is confirmed. I will not be voting. As I told Bear Hugs, so old still no chance. Who knows when it will be when I will finally get to vote?

I'm highly irritated by the footage of people cheering so heartily and happily when a large portion of the electorate isn't going to be visiting the ballot box next week. It says on the news that more than 1.2 million will get to vote this time, but does that mean another 'more than 1.2 million' will not get to vote?

And what's with that silly hang-up about Mr Tan Lead Shake's slippers? Will they stop talking about them?

I am not 'discussing politics'. I am just saying I wish that I was voting this year and that media reports of the elections could focus more on the issues that matter.

I know you will be envious but I am getting to vote afterall! (actually my second time only and I am almost 40) I also can't believe my luck when the estate I stay in is under the aljunied constituency. it is quite puzzling, because i actually stay in tampines, and everyone else including people living across the same street are voting under tampines ward. I wonder how we got lumped under aljunied. hmmm..But all the same, i am so happy for myself that mine is the probably the hottest ward in spore!

Poor you. I get to vote but the opposition at my ward has that slippers guy. See, I can't help it! It is the image perpetuated by the media - Tan Lead Shake = slippers.

Ah, you two, every vote counts, and every vote is a precious commodity. I am indeed envious!

Wah, even TWO of my siblings AND parents (i.e. 3 different households) are in Aljunied.

Your situation also reminds me of a long time ago when we lived across the road from none other than Potong Pasir constituency.

Fuzzoo, since he's walking about your area, you might as well take a look at his footwear if he comes by and shakes your hand! I understand that he himself mentioned the slippers during his rally.

Sigh - I too no chance (again) to vote. Everything so quiet here. If not for media and internet, you won't know there is a GE.

It's kind of 'boring' on this side of the island and yet there are massive traffic jams and human jams in other parts.

No wonder

According to a poll of about 300 people, reported in yesterday's Sunday Times, (how come nobody ever asks me these things?) , the Seven Wonders of Singapore are (in order of merit): 1. The Esplanade (a whopping 82 votes) 2. Changi Airport (53 votes) 3. Sentosa 4. The Merlion 5. The Singapore River 6. Food 7. Mount Faber and LKY (tie - 10 votes each) Some 'offbeat choices' which didn't make it to the top 7: aunties selling tissue paper at coffee shops, Singlish, kiasuism, 4D-Toto outlets and Newater (said someone of Newater: 'We are probably the only country with branded recycled sewage.' Well said, ha ha.). Maybe it's a personal bias but I feel that a 'Wonder' must also have strong historical and cultural/social value (so I'm rather miffed that Angkor Wat didn't make it to the 7 Wonders of the World; in fact it was never in the running for the top 7). Speaking of 'sway' spurned lovers, the latest one I've come across is in Love Revolution ( only 12 episodes!), a J show I recently watched. Heroine of the story is pretty, 30-ish Smart Doctor, who is dying to fall in love and get married. She meets Aspiring Actor and Broadcast Journalist (right). She falls for Broadcast Journalist like a ton of bricks. It's obvious from the start (to the audience but not to her) that Aspiring Actor is nuts about her. But... she has fallen for Broadcast Journalist like a ton of bricks already. No doubt, Smart Doctor and Broadcast Journalist must be given credit for their love that stands the tests of time, separation and misunderstanding, but the one who loves most in the show is undoubtedly Mr Aspiring Actor.
